This gets some of the basics down perfectly!

I'm a fitness enthusiast committed to an active lifestyle that includes weight training. So this book is a perfect match for my reading purposes. After years of this lifestyle I can say that this author gets some essentials down. One is consistency. This is a -lifestyle-. You don' stop being healthy and lifting weights after a few weeks! You do it for as long as you can! Next is drinking water. I'd venture to say most people don't know how much water they need and are probably dehydrated. Next is the rest of the equation: sleep and nutrition. Controlling the fitness area is not enough on its own. Remember, this is a lifestyle. The author goes into specific exercises and he includes one of the best: deadlifts. He also gives a variety of tried and true effective exercises.
Now for the critiques: there are no pictures showing what the exercises look like! As a beginner, I needed to see what I'm supposed to be doing. If that's you and you read this book, you're probably going to need to search the internet for pictures and videos because this won't satisfy. Next: the author only explains how to do 2 exercises. What about the rest?! You'll need external sources for them as well.

From weight lifting basics to a basic cardio schedule you can't go wrong if you're looking for some quick, easy exercises to improve your overall fitness level.

When I bought this book I was expecting it to be an average cookie cutter bodybuilding book, but I was pleasantly surprised on how in depth it went and at the variety of techniques much of which I had never heard of before. I would highly recommend this book to anyone looking to pack on muscle and lose fat.
