He has had in view the popular rather than the scientific aspect of the subject, and hence has limited himself to what he felt would most appeal to the average reader.

I have read this book

Reading this text I get a feel for how people who worked hard believed they might find escape from labor and suffering in technology -------this being supposedly a better life -- while our society didn't evolve exactly along these lines nevertheless the UTOPIAN DREAM driving our economy and our notion OF progress --THAT THE MACHINE CAN CREATE A HEAVEN ON EARTH --remains the same ---
