Excellent reference for Stationary Engineer's Exam

This guide concisely explains the basics of boiler operation, and includes around 400 practice questions. It is more useful than any books I could find at the library. Worth the price. After using this as my primarry study guide, I passed the Stationary Engineer's exam. Some of the information seems outdated, but that's what was on the exam.

This is probably the best companion piece to another text booknow. It's not terribly in depth, what I did was read a text book then read this as a supplement before my exam. About the Author
Elizabeth McMahan is professor emerita of English at Illinois State University. She holds a Ph.D. in nineteenth-century literature from the University of Oregon. While still in graduate school, she wrote her first book, A Crash Course in Composition, published by McGraw Hill. She has taught on every level, from freshman composition to graduate seminars, and has published critical articles on works of literature and teaching composition. She served as the director of writing programs for seven years at Illinois State University. During her academic career, she received an NDEA Title IV Fellowship, the Kester Svendson Dissertation Grant, and the 1978 Illinois Arts Council Essay Award. Since taking early retirement, she has devoted her energies to writing and revising textbooks. Robert W. Funk taught high school for 10 years before receiving his Ph.D. at the University of Illinois in 1974. He is currently a professor of English at Eastern Illinois University and lectures in grammar, advanced composition, Shakespeare, and methods for teaching English in the secondary school. He has co-authored a number of college-level textbooks with Elizabeth McMahan and Susan Day, including Literature and the Writing Process (6th ed., 2001), The Simon & Schuster Short Prose Reader (2nd ed., 2000), Strategies for College Writing (2000) He has also lectured at Eureka College and Richland Community College and has presented numerous workshops on composition and the teaching of literature at national and regional conferences, including CCCC and NCTE, and for state and local in-service training sessions. His current research interests include contemporary rhetoric, composition theory, and reader-responsecriticism. Susan X Day is an assistant professor of psychology at Iowa State University of Science and Technology in Ames. She pursues two research programs, one concerning personality and the development of interests, and one concerning the use of distance technology in psychotherapy. Dr. Day taught English at Illinois State University for 20 years before beginning her Ph.D. in psychology at University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign. Her specialties in English studies are writing and pedagogy, and she has done research on the practices of dissertation writers and the identity development of creative writers. In 1999, Dr. Day won the national American Psychological Association-sponsored Outstanding Graduate Student Award for excellence in scholarship and professional development in her field. She is the author and co-author of more than a dozen college textbooks in rhetoric, grammar, and literature, and her research has appeared in prestigious journals such as American Psychologist and Psychological Science.

Robert W. Funk is founder of the Jesus Seminar and Director of the Westar Institute in Santa Rosa, California. He has been a distinguished leader in biblical scholorship for more than thirty years. A Guggenheim Fellow and Fulbright Senior Scholar, he is the author of a dozen books, including Honest to Jesus and The Five Gospels.

This book is a must have for new designers. I have a B.A in Design and half a business management degree. During and in between study I have managed many retail boutiques. This book illiterates every point that needs to be addressed if you are wanting to venture into the fashion industry. I knew 90% of this book, however, it was a fabulous read to regain information that had disappeared from memory.
As most new entrants to the market you will find wholesaling the easiest way to start out. This book takes you through important terms to be aware of when selling and has many templates to think of.

I can not recommend this book enough. I now feel after many years of putting my dreams on hold due to fear, I am ready to take my first steps into the industry on my own.

I am an MBA student considering starting my own fashion line. I know lots of stuff about business (although I have never started one before), but very little about fashion. I can't sew or draw. I just know what I like. This book tells you everything you need to know, no matter which side of the coin you're coming from (businessman or designer). I purchased another book at the same time, one that looks a little more 'user friendly', but this book turned out to be so much more informative, while maintaining the same level of 'readability'. You don't have to be an expert in anything going in, but if you're serious about starting a line, start with this book.

This book provides a great starting point for learning your way into the fashion world. I'd recommend it for someone who is planning to start a fashion brand and haven't gotten a clue where to begin when it comes to the business side of things. However, don't expect this to be an all-inclusive tutorial - there is still lots to learn.

I'm a full time work, learning entrepreneurship in my spare time. I was thinking to take some courses online or in local university, but when I've discovered this book I stopped looking. I'm almost done and going through the book slow studying and analyzing every chapter. Author did in my opinion an excellent job in sequence of action needed for every entrepreneur.

Book contain detailed explanations, real life examples (!), diagrams and in addition templates downloadable from Trump website for free. Again for now, I'm using this book as a substitute of education and it's working for me.

I would say this book is a must for a beginner entrepreneur and very helpful for established entrepreneur.

this book is a must read for any one thinking or even planning to have a business it gives you the nuts and bolts of business and then also gives you the tools to make things happen. I have already successfully started my own business and feel confident and assured that I have made the right choices and this is the guide book to your travels as a future and or current business owner. You get what you pay for in most cases but this book over delivers and under promises. If this was the only book I had to learn about business from I would still win!

Rachel Gibson began her fiction career at age sixteen, when she ran her car into the side of a hill, retrieved the bumper, and drove to a parking lot, where she strategically scattered the car’s broken glass all about. She told her parents she’d been the victim of a hit-and-run and they believed her. She’s been making up stories ever since, although she gets paid better for them nowadays.

Crazy again.

After eight years, Lily keeps under the radar working to be respectable raising her son. A successful business woman in Amarillo, living in Lovett. Lily gets pulled over for speeding by the new deputy in town who happens to be her neighbor. Pursued and seduced, Lily must decide if loving a younger man in Lovett will bring back the crazies. GREAT READ!

Zero plot or character development

One of the worst stories I've ever read, bar none. There is zero character development or plot development. It makes no real sense why these two people "love" each other. As another reviewer pointed out, it reads very much like an outline waiting to be fleshed out. I wouldn't bother with this one even if it came from the library! Totally lame.

Disappointing

Let me start by clarifying that I am a long time Rachel Gibson fan, which is why I bought this to begin with.

This book however did not give me that same feel-good-vibe I've gotten from her other books. Sometimes I even wondered if it actually was written by Rachel Gibson, and not just someone using her name. It does have that cute way of mentioning characters from past books, so I turned away from the ghost-writer theory, but it still left me wanting. The entire book felt very rushed; the story line, the characters' development, their feelings towards each other and their relationship. In addition (and i don't know if this is just for the kindle version), the amount of typos was enough to make even a non-native English reader very annoyed!
I realize that this is meant to be at novella length, but that doesn't mean you need to rush through the story.

If you are looking for a feel-good, funny book, by all means pick up a Rachel Gibson book, just not this one. There are better ones, like all the ones set in Truly, or the Chinooks-series.
